May is National Elder Law Month!

Did you know that May has long been a month of recognition for seniors? It all started in 1963, when President John F. Kennedy designated May as Senior Citizens Month to honor those aged 65 and older. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter carried on that legacy and renamed it Older Americans Month—a tradition that continues today.

In that same spirit, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) established National Elder Law Month in May to educate and raise awareness about the legal issues affecting older adults and their families.

At Surprenant, Beneski and Nunes, we are proud members of NAELA and even prouder to help families navigate the often complex world of elder law and estate planning. Two of our managing partners, Attorney Dan Surprenant and Attorney Michelle Beneski, are two of 29 Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELA) in the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This is a distinction that sets our firm apart.

We specialize in areas such as:

  • Wills & probate
  • Estate & trust administration
  • Asset protection strategies
  • Estate tax minimization
  • Business succession planning
  • Special needs planning
  • Charitable giving

With deep roots in the community, we understand the local landscape and collaborate with trusted professionals and services to ensure your needs are fully met. Whether you’re starting a family, planning your retirement, running a business, or facing elder care decisions—our team is here to help guide and protect your future.

At Surprenant, Beneski and Nunes, we believe elder law is not just legal work, it’s legacy work.
