What is an Aging Services Access Point (ASAP)?

An Aging Service Access Point (ASAP) is a private non-profit agency with a governing board that serves and represents senior citizens. There are about twenty-five ASAPs statewide. ASAPs are a starting point for seniors looking for services or understanding the benefits available to them in the Commonwealth.  ASAPs also provide information and referrals for senior services, including home care services, housing options, public benefits, legal assistance, hospice care, ombudsman program, health insurance, senior companions, and adult day care. Other services include elder care advisers, case management services, caregiver support & nutrition services. ASAP case managers intake and assess the situation, and develop and implement a plan of services needed for the senior. Additionally, they monitor and reassess the needs of the senior. Another aspect of ASAP is they also investigate allegations of abuse and neglect of seniors.
