May is National Elder Law Month!

May is a big month for seniors! Back in 1963, President John F. Kennedy declared May to be Senior Citizens Month for anyone over 65 years old. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter kept the sentiment but changed the name to Older Americans Month.

Naturally, the National Academy for Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) saw how fitting to also declare the month of May to be National Elder Law Month. At Surprenant & Beneski, we are proud members of NAELA whose sole mission is to educate, serve, and provide the community with attorneys who practice in elder law. Additionally, our two managing partners, Attorney Dan Surprenant and Attorney Michelle Beneski, are two of only 25 Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELA) in the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This makes our team uniquely qualified to help families who are seeking guidance in estate planning and elder law.

Dan and Michelle joined their father, Attorney Robert L. Surprenant, in elder law when they, as a family, went through the experience of having a loved one with dementia. Recognizing that there was very little help for families, they dedicated their careers to educating the public in all aspects of estate planning and elder law including:

  • Wills and probate
  • Estate and trust administration
  • Asset protection
  • Estate Tax minimization
  • Business succession
  • Planning for special needs
  • Charitable planning

At Surprenant & Beneski, P.C., we are dedicated to working together to benefit each and every client who comes to us for help with their estate planning and related matters. Deeply rooted in the community we serve, we have a full understanding of the businesses and services in our area and are, therefore, well able to match our clients with services that match their needs. Our team of attorneys and support staff has a well-earned reputation for working collaboratively to provide our clients with counsel tailored to their individual needs. Whether you are the head of a large family, the owner of a business, a divorced or single person, just starting your career, at your prime, considering retirement or already enjoying it, Surprenant & Beneski is available to give you meaningful, practical advice about how to proceed and how best to protect your future and those you love.
